Bathroom breaks and rattlesnakes

Our weekend excursion brought us to Sedona (after a toss up between a drive to the rim country or staying at the campground watching the geezers walk around topless). We pulled into the Sedona Real Inn yesterday afternoon after an amazing drive through the Oak Creek Canyon. Keith put us up in the Seven Canyons Suite for the weekend, and Dolly was able to join us for the trip!
So far, we're still enjoying:
1. Being able to walk really fast out of the bathroom and into the living room without worrying about shaking the camper.
2. Jumping up and down in the living room because we can and because there are no wheels under us.
3. Walking in and out of rooms, because they're there.

Today we took the Hee-Haw wagon out on several jeep trails and found the Honanki Indian ruins which were home to the Sinagua, Yavapai and Apache Indians. We arrived fairly late in the afternoon (post tourist time) and beat the crowds and hiked solo to the base of Loy Butte. We found cave drawings and petroglyphs dating from 1100 - 1300 AD. I tried to capture the wall art while inspecting the hut ruins, they are here if anyone is interested.

Later we drove out toward Boynton Canyon and Cathedral Rock. Of course, all that bumping around didn't help our bladder so we made a pit stop, or should I say pit viper stop near a clearing on the side of the trail. We thought we'd be able to get lucky with a few snapshots while we were on a high ridge, so we scouted for a level spot to put the tripod and let Dolly out for a small trek. (No worries, she was wearing her Muttluks!)
Keith found a tree to do his business and was about to do the deed when he heard a noise at the base of the tree...dear Holy Lord is he glad that he looked down...because he COULD have missed this--
I think Keith is still with us today due to the fact that either:

A. His good run of bad luck finally ran out.
or
B. He's got mad snake wrangler skills.

Keith does not have mad snake wrangler skills so I'll just go with my gut feeling, he (and I ) were extremely lucky today and God and Yeshua were watching out from a butte nearby.
Keith was two feet away from a Mojave rattler...after much research and investigation tonight, we determined that it wasn't our first guess, the Western Diamondback Rattler.
Deadly.
Needless to say no more bathroom breaks while hiking, biking, climbing, caving, trekking, walking, jogging, swimming, etc...in the state of Arizona.

So that's the skinny so far while slothing in Sedona. We're headed back to the Sonoran on Monday afternoon, more to come!
