Temperatures are reaching 93 degrees inside the galley of the fifth wheel. The A/C units run constantly and can barely keep up with the rising heat on the roof . We find ourselves hovering under the second A/C in the upstairs bedroom. (We, as in Dolly and myself.) The blinds are all closed, some windows are completely covered by reflective insulation. Still, there is no relief due to the heat radiating from each slide out and large window. The skylights have been sealed off with reflective insulation and Nashua tape. And we still find ourselves baking inside this mobile oven.
I like to reread the stories and blogs I posted from January 06 when we stayed in Chicago. Those winter dilemmas seem so far away. I wonder how many more years we'll keep putting our rig in the most extreme weather conditions. Is this for laughs? Are we just testing the waters here, seeing if they can hack it? I have no problem defrosting the water lines here in Tonopah...here the water comes out of the tap at a nice 72 degrees. All day and night long. Thermal underground springs account for the warm tap water, so there's never a need for the hot water heater, which in turn makes us a little greener.
Need to defrost some chicken or steak? No problem. Only 3 to 4 minutes (straight from the freezer) on the patio table and you are ready to cook! In Chicago, our refrigerator blew up once and to keep perishables from spoiling we just stuck them outside in the four foot bank of snow against the camper.
Seems like God always has a way of lending a helping hand when it comes to our camping escapades.
The good news...our nights are cooler already and it's still just the first week of September. Our lows are finally dipping into the 60's and we're able to get out of the papasan patio chairs without having to hang our shirts up to dry afterward.
