I finally felt something that closely resembles autumn weather. October began as brutal as the midsummer days of July; however, there seems to be hope as the temperatures are slowly declining. On a good day there is a slight chill in the air with our lows dipping into high 50's and daily highs reaching only 88 degrees. The old man and I embrace this minuscule change and appreciate every day our A/C doesn't cycle off. We're looking forward to greener days and more hikes into the desert after the critters find their holes and lie down for winter naps. Nothing compares to fall in Lanford, we moan and complain daily about not being able to smell the farm or play outside in the best air of the entire year. We wait for fall religiously, especially Oktober.
This month holds many special dates. Grant gets older again and two days after his geburstag, we celebrate the sixth year of our harmonious union in holy matrimony. Useless information: the shootout at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, AZ happened on our anniversary! Needless to say it's a happy month, we still miss the chilly air of western Pennsylvania and the bright blue sky of southern Alabama but not as much as the backyard in Lanford.
